This resolution honors Cory Hansen, a firefighter with the Austin Fire Department, for his heroic actions during a house fire on April 20, 2024, in North Austin. During the early morning incident, Hansen and his crew responded to a burning house where they believed someone might be trapped inside. Despite extremely dangerous conditions with low visibility and thick black smoke, Hansen and his teammate entered the structure, found a victim lying face down on the floor, and successfully moved the person outside to safety. The resolution highlights Hansen's seven-year service with Ladder 8 crew, his recognition with a Medal of Merit from the fire department, his background as a U.S. Army veteran, and his role as a father of two sons. The Texas House of Representatives formally commends Hansen for his courageous actions and extends best wishes for his future, and will prepare an official copy of the resolution as an expression of their high regard for his exceptional heroism.
