This resolution congratulates Machi Nelson, a recent graduate of Proviso West High School (PWHS), for his outstanding performance at the 2025 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 3A Boys Track and Field State Finals, where he won first place in the high jump by clearing a height of 2.05 meters. The resolution highlights Nelson's athletic achievements, including his first-place finish at the 2025 Illinois Top Times Indoor Track and Field Championships in March and his recognition as Young Sportsman of the Year by the American Multi-Ethnic Commission (AMEC) at its 2025 Congressional Global Champions Gala. As a first-year member of the PWHS Panthers track and field team during his senior year, Nelson competed in multiple events including high jump, long jump, and triple jump, and has been recognized as an inspiration to his school and community.
