The subcommittee will submit an initial report to Congress detailing their assessments, plans, and recommendations for implementing quantum cybersecurity measures, including potential legislative and non-legislative policies. Additionally, they are required to submit follow-up reports annually for the next four years tracking the progress of public and private sector entities in adopting quantum cybersecurity preparedness measures. The bill aims to proactively address the potential national security risks posed by advances in quantum computing technology that could compromise existing cryptographic systems.
