This resolution pays tribute to Richard Augustus Hewitt, a San Antonio resident who passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 88, honoring his life of service and commitment to family, community, and country. Born in Effingham, South Carolina, Hewitt served in the U.S. Air Force for two decades, working in roles such as Morse code operator and computer technician, and retiring as a technical sergeant, before pursuing a career with the Burroughs Corporation. He was deeply involved in community organizations, including being a dedicated Mason for 57 years and actively participating in school and civic groups. Hewitt was a family man who was married twice, had five children, and was blessed with six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The resolution, adopted by the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas during its 2nd Called Session, formally pays tribute to his memory, extends sympathy to his family and friends, and directs that an official copy of the resolution be prepared for his family, with the Texas House of Representatives and Senate adjourning in his memory.
