This resolution pays tribute to the memory of Sarah Blakely McCrory, an 8-year-old girl from Houston who tragically passed away on July 4, 2025, during the Texas Hill Country floods. Born on April 10, 2017, to Lindsey McCrory and the late Blake McCrory, Blakely was a vibrant child known for her mischievous sense of humor, close bond with her older brother Brady, and dreams of becoming a veterinarian. She was an active student at Memorial Lutheran School, involved in American Heritage Girls, the Texas Society Children of the American Revolution, and St. Martin's Episcopal Church, and had recently been attending Camp Mystic when the flood occurred. The resolution extends profound condolences to her extensive family, including her mother, brother, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, and other relatives, and formally recognizes Blakely as a ray of light who touched the lives of those around her. The Texas House of Representatives unanimously adopted this resolution on August 27, 2025, and agreed to prepare an official copy for her family and adjourn in her memory.
