This bill creates a new specialty license plate called "Save22" that allows vehicle owners to purchase a license plate supporting the Save22 organization. The bill amends existing law to establish the process for obtaining these license plates and specifies how the funds collected will be distributed. When someone purchases a Save22 license plate, they will pay the regular vehicle registration fees plus an additional $22 contribution that will be deposited into the state's license plate contribution fund. The Save22 organization will receive these contributions and can use them for any purpose it determines necessary. The license plates will display an approved logo and words selected by Save22 representatives, and will include standard county identification stickers. An additional $10 administrative fee will be collected to compensate the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for the costs of issuing these specialty plates. Vehicle owners of passenger cars, non-commercial motor vehicles, recreational vehicles, and other approved vehicle classes can apply for these plates through the state's motor vehicle registration process.
