If a hotel fails to provide these safety devices, they will receive a warning for the first violation and face potential administrative penalties up to $5,000 for subsequent violations. The bill protects employees from retaliation for reporting incidents and allows hotels to maintain records of guests who have been reported for inappropriate behavior. Importantly, the bill does not apply to hotels with collective bargaining agreements that already address similar safety provisions, and it will take effect one year after passage, giving hotels time to implement the required safety measures.
