AI Summary
This bill amends existing Michigan law regarding concealed weapons by adding an additional exemption to the licensing requirements for carrying a concealed pistol. Specifically, the bill updates the list of individuals who are not required to obtain a concealed weapon license by adding members of the National Guard military police or security forces who are in title 32 status (a specific federal designation for National Guard members performing federal service). The bill also makes several grammatical changes throughout the existing text, replacing gendered language like "his or her" with the more neutral "the individual's" in various provisions. The exemptions already in place include various law enforcement personnel, military members, corrections officers, peace officers from other jurisdictions, residents of other states with valid concealed carry licenses, and individuals transporting firearms under specific conditions. The changes maintain the existing framework of the law while making it more inclusive and gender-neutral, and extend a specific licensing exemption to a particular category of National Guard personnel.
