This bill, called the "No Woke Indoctrination of Military Kids Act," aims to prohibit the teaching and promotion of critical race theory (CRT) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in schools operated by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). The bill defines critical race theory broadly, including concepts such as inherent racial superiority, collective guilt, and the idea that the United States is fundamentally racist. It prevents DoDEA schools from using funds to teach, promote, or require students to support CRT-related ideas, develop CRT-related curricula, or implement CRT training programs. Additionally, the bill restricts the DoDEA from maintaining diversity-related offices, employing diversity officers, creating resource groups based on race or identity, or developing diversity and equity training courses. The only exceptions are traditional Equal Employment Opportunity offices and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance offices. The Secretary of Defense is required to ensure compliance, with potential disciplinary actions for employees or contractors who violate the act, including suspension or termination. Parents can file formal complaints about suspected violations, and the act will take effect within 60 days of its enactment.
