This resolution pays tribute to the memory of Chloe Madeline Childress, an exceptional 18-year-old student from Houston who tragically passed away during flooding in Kerr County on July 4, 2025. A graduate of The Kinkaid School, Childress was a remarkable student leader who served in numerous school organizations, including as co-president of the Honor Council, and participated in multiple clubs and athletic teams. She was an accomplished student with numerous achievements, including visual arts awards and medical internship experiences, and had been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin's pre-med program. The resolution highlights her community service, including founding the Love Our Senior Citizens Club and volunteering with various organizations, and emphasizes her passionate, determined, and joyful spirit. The Texas House of Representatives formally extends heartfelt sympathy to her family, including her parents Wendie and Matthew Childress, her brother Jack, and her grandparents, and resolves to prepare an official copy of the resolution for her family while adjourning in her memory.
