This resolution pays tribute to John Michael Percifield Sr., a prominent civic leader from Alvarado, Texas, who passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 84. A fifth-generation Alvarado resident and Texas A&M University graduate, Percifield dedicated his life to education and public service, serving as a teacher, assistant superintendent, and business manager for Alvarado Independent School District until his retirement in 1997. He was deeply involved in community leadership, serving on numerous boards including the Johnson County MHMR board, Bethany Water Supply Corporation, and Johnson County Historical Commission, and was instrumental in preserving local history through projects like restoring a vintage fire truck and establishing the Alvarado Heritage Museum. Recognized for his contributions, he was named Alvaradoan of the Year in 2013 and Citizen of the Year in 2023, and was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church Alvarado. The resolution extends sympathy to his wife Mary, his two sons Michael and Paul, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family members, honoring Percifield's legacy of community service, civic engagement, and commitment to his local area.
