This bill amends existing education and insurance laws to establish regulations for administering immunizations, moving away from solely relying on recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Instead, these regulations will now consider a broader range of expert recommendations, including those from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American College of Physicians, and any interstate bodies or similar national or international scientific organizations involved in reviewing and recommending immunization coverage and access. This change aims to ensure that immunization administration aligns with generally accepted medical standards and a wider consensus of expert opinion, while still allowing for patient-specific orders and non-patient specific regimens for various vaccines and emergency treatments, and it takes effect immediately.
