The new bill establishes two alternative definitions: (1) a blood lead concentration of 3.5 µg/dL or higher, or (2) a concentration equal to or greater than the blood lead reference value determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The bill also makes minor technical corrections to the definitions section, such as updating capitalization and references, and renumbering the paragraphs. By lowering the threshold, the bill aims to identify and address lead exposure in children at an earlier stage, potentially allowing for more timely intervention and prevention of lead-related health impacts.
