This resolution recognizes and honors the Howard University Bison Softball Team for their exceptional 2025 season, during which they achieved remarkable success in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). The team won both the MEAC Regular Season Championship with a record-breaking 19-1 conference record and the MEAC Tournament Championship, marking the first time in program history they claimed both titles in the same season. The resolution highlights key achievements, including graduate student pitcher Ameenah Ballenger's championship game performance, Head Coach Victoria "Tori" Tyson's leadership, and the team's outstanding offensive production with 392 hits and 245 runs. The resolution also celebrates the team's academic excellence, with 14 team members earning MEAC All-Academic Team honors by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, the team earned an automatic berth in the 2025 NCAA Softball Tournament and advanced to the Durham Regional, competing against nationally ranked Duke University. By passing this resolution, the Council of the District of Columbia officially recognizes the team's athletic and academic achievements and commends the players, coaches, and staff for bringing honor and pride to Howard University and the District of Columbia.
