This resolution condemns the school shooting that occurred on September 10, 2025, at Evergreen High School in Colorado, which resulted in two victims being hospitalized and caused significant trauma to students, staff, and the entire community. The resolution specifically recognizes the swift response of local law enforcement (Jefferson County Sheriff's Office) and school security officers who arrived within two minutes of the lockdown, as well as the courage of educators, staff, and neighbors who helped protect students and prevent further harm. It also acknowledges the critical medical care provided by CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital and Children's Hospital Colorado, which gave the victims a chance to survive. The Senate resolves to honor the victims and survivors, extend condolences to their families and community, recognize the community's strength in responding to the tragedy, and pay tribute to the law enforcement, healthcare providers, educators, and neighbors whose quick actions saved lives during and after the attack, while emphasizing the fundamental belief that children should be able to attend school without fearing for their lives.
