This resolution recognizes and supports Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs) by designating September 22-28, 2025, as a special week of recognition. AANAPISIs are defined as postsecondary institutions with at least 10% undergraduate enrollment of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students. The resolution highlights the significant contributions of these institutions, noting that while they comprise only 7.1% of higher education institutions, they enroll 46% of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander undergraduate students and award over half of their associate's and bachelor's degrees. The resolution acknowledges the 18th anniversary of the AANAPISIs Program, established in 2007, and calls on the people of the United States to observe the week with appropriate activities and programs. It also encourages eligible institutions to obtain funding and establish programs serving the unique needs of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students, families, and communities, recognizing these institutions' critical role in providing quality educational opportunities and preserving cultural heritage.
