This bill seeks to prohibit diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in the District of Columbia government by banning any activities, training, or organizational structures that the or require understanding of systemic inequities based on race, color, ethnicity, religion, biological sex, or national origin. Specifically, the bill would eliminate numerous offices focused on racial, ethnic, gender, and LGBTQ+ affairs, such as the Mayor's Office of Racial Equity and various community-specific commissions. The legislation would prevent DC government agencies from developing DEor training programs, employees to in such training, or maintaining offices, resource groups, or teams teams centered on diversity and equity. Employees cannot be penalized for refusing to participate in DEI-, and anyone who believes the law has been violated can sue in federal district court with potential remedies including financial damages and attorney's fees. The bill does allow continued maintaining Equal Employment Opportunity offices and Americans with Disabilities Act enforcement offices in traditional forms., The law would take effect 90 days after enactment, and includes a severability clause ensuring that if any part of the legislation is found unconstitutional, the rest remains in effect.
