This bill amends the state construction code law to streamline and update the process for developing and maintaining building codes in Michigan. The advisory committee will be responsible for reviewing the latest edition of the International Residential Code, considering proposed revisions, and preparing a detailed report for the director, who retains final authority for code promulgation. Additionally, the bill ensures that proposed code changes are evaluated based on their necessity, potential impact on public health and safety, economic reasonableness, and technical feasibility, with all committee votes to be publicly recorded and posted online.
