This resolution addresses the filling of a vacancy in the Ohio House of Representatives for the 26th House District following Sedrick Denson's resignation effective August 8, 2025. Pursuant to Section 11 of Article II of the Ohio Constitution, the Democratic members of the House of Representatives have elected Ashley Bryant Bailey to fill the vacant seat. Bailey, a Democrat, meets the constitutional and legal qualifications to serve in the House of Representatives and will be effective October 1, 2025, serving the remainder of Denson's unexpired term which ends on December 31, 2026. The resolution further directs that a copy of the resolution be recorded in the House Journal, including the voting record of the Democratic members, and that the House Clerk shall certify the resolution and vote to the Ohio Secretary of State.
