This bill, known as the AI-WISE Act (Artificial Intelligence Wisdom for Innovative Small Enterprises Act), aims to help small businesses better understand and use artificial intelligence (AI) tools. It amends the Small Business Act to require the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to create and make publicly available educational resources and online learning modules about AI. These resources will cover how AI models work, their limitations, how to identify AI-generated content, how to stay updated on AI developments and policies, best practices for working with AI providers, how to manage AI risks, ensure user privacy, maintain human oversight in decision-making, and determine if an AI tool is suitable and beneficial for a business. The SBA Administrator will consult with an Advisory Working Group, composed of experts in AI, education, and small business outreach, and with the National Institute of Standards and Technology to ensure the information is accurate and current. The bill also encourages "resource partners," which are organizations that help small businesses, to develop specialized training materials and coordinate with the SBA to spread awareness of these new educational resources. The goal is to provide actionable and easily understandable information without favoring any specific AI tools or developers, and these resources must be established within 180 days of the bill's enactment.
