This bill establishes a contingency funding mechanism for three critical social safety net programs (SNAP, TANF, and WIC) in the event of a federal funding lapse. If federal funding stops, the Directors of Job and Family Services and Health will certify the amount needed to continue these programs, which will be equivalent to the federal funding that would have been received. The state will then appropriate funds from the Budget Stabilization Fund to cover these program costs, up to the fund's available balance. Once federal funding resumes, this emergency funding expires, and the state will transfer any federal reimbursements back to the Budget Stabilization Fund.
