This resolution mourns the death of John L. Goleman, a lifelong resident of Divernon, Illinois, who passed away on September 1, 2025. Born in Springfield in 1953, Goleman was a graduate of Divernon High School and Western Illinois University, where he studied agriculture and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He worked alongside his wife Kathy on their family farm, raised two children, and was deeply involved in his community, serving as a trustee for the Township of Divernon for 36 years and as board chairman of the Divernon United Methodist Church. Known for his sense of humor and generous spirit, Goleman was an avid sports fan who loved the Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals. The resolution, passed by the Illinois Senate, extends condolences to his surviving family, including his wife of 47 years, two children, two grandchildren, his mother, and his brother, and formally acknowledges his contributions to his family and community by offering a suitable copy of the resolution to his family as an expression of sympathy.
