This bill amends the "Child Protection Law" to require individuals who are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse or neglect to complete continuing education training every three years. Mandated reporters are individuals legally obligated to report suspected child abuse or neglect, as outlined in section 3 of the law. The training materials will be developed by the department in consultation with specific prevention and treatment boards and coalitions, and will be made publicly available online. Employers must provide these training materials to their employees, unless they offer their own annually updated training based on the department's materials. Importantly, any continuing education completed by a mandated reporter that is based on the department's training will count towards the three-year requirement.
