This bill creates two new sections in Florida Statutes requiring specific educational personnel to take an oath before beginning their duties. Under Section 1, school personnel including instructional staff, administrative staff, and prekindergarten instructors must swear to support and defend the U.S. and Florida Constitutions, perform their duties professionally and objectively, uphold academic integrity and professional ethics, foster a respectful learning environment that promotes critical thinking and civic responsibility, and serve as positive role models. Similarly, Section 2 establishes an identical oath requirement for administrative and instructional employees at Florida College System institutions and state universities. The oath, which can be sworn or affirmed, concludes with the traditional "so help me God" phrase. These new requirements will take effect on July 1, 2026, and aim to ensure that educational professionals at various levels are committed to high standards of professional conduct, academic integrity, and civic responsibility.
