This bill, known as the "Total Force Family Education Act," amends title 10 of the United States Code to expand access to Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools for dependents of certain reserve component members. Specifically, the bill allows dependents of reserve component members who are performing active service and have been ordered to an accompanied permanent change of station to be eligible to enroll in DoDEA schools at the military installation where the member is permanently stationed. If the school has sufficient space, the dependent will be automatically enrolled upon the member's request. In cases where the school is at full capacity, the dependent will be placed on a waiting list for enrollment. The legislation aims to provide more educational opportunities for families of reserve component members who are actively serving, recognizing their contributions and ensuring their children have access to quality educational facilities at military installations.
