Any government entity allowing its code inspectors, who are individuals responsible for enforcing building and property codes as defined in section 162.04(2) of Florida Statutes, to wear these cameras must create specific policies and procedures covering their proper use, maintenance, storage, and data handling, including guidelines on who can wear them and in what situations, though inspectors must be allowed to record any public encounter while on duty. The entity must also ensure all relevant personnel receive training on these policies, retain recorded data according to public records laws (specifically section 119.021), and periodically review actual practices to ensure they align with the established policies. Importantly, the bill clarifies that chapter 934, which deals with intercepting communications, will not apply to these body camera recordings made by code inspectors.
