This bill establishes a study committee to explore the potential for electronically submitting pesticide use reports to the department of agriculture. The committee will consist of four members - three from the House of Representatives (appointed by the Speaker) and one from the Senate (appointed by the Senate President) - who will receive standard legislative mileage reimbursement. The committee's primary duties include determining whether pesticide use reports, which are currently submitted on paper, should transition to an online data submission system, and whether such electronic submission should be mandatory or optional. They will also investigate the possibility of creating an online database for automated notifications of pesticide application intent. The committee must elect a chairperson, hold its first meeting within 90 days of the bill's effective date, and will require three members present to constitute a quorum. By November 1, 2026, the committee must submit a report detailing its findings and recommendations to key state leadership, including the Speaker of the House, Senate President, House and Senate Clerks, Governor, and State Library. The bill takes effect immediately upon passage.
