This bill directs the Virginia Department of Education to establish a work group composed of various stakeholders, including school counselors, social workers, psychologists, administrators, and representatives from technology industries, to identify best practices for using technology tools in public schools to help identify students at risk of self-harm or harming others. This work group will examine factors such as how these tools impact response times, student privacy, potential bias, data evaluation, and costs, and will also identify schools for a pilot program to test these tools.
