This bill provides an economic recovery payment of $200 per month to eligible recipients of certain federal benefits during a six-month period from January 1, 2026, to June 30, 2026. The payment applies to individuals receiving Social Security (Title II) benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cash benefits, Railroad Retirement benefits, Veterans disability or pension benefits, and Civil Service Retirement System benefits. To qualify, recipients must reside in the United States or its territories, and individuals can only receive one $200 payment per month, even if they are eligible for multiple benefit types. The payments will be automatically disbursed electronically to the same account used for their regular benefits. Importantly, these payments will not be counted as income for tax purposes or for determining eligibility for other federal or federally-assisted benefit programs. The bill also includes provisions to ensure that when a benefit recipient has a representative payee, the entire payment must be used for the benefit of the individual. The bill specifically prohibits the President's name from being included on these payments and appropriates funds for administrative costs to various federal agencies to implement the program.
