This bill establishes a congressional time capsule to commemorate the 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial) of the United States, to be created by the Architect of the Capitol. The time capsule will be prepared and sealed by July 4th, 2026, and will be buried in the Capitol Visitor Center. Its contents will be jointly determined by the leadership offices of both the House and Senate, and must include a joint letter from these offices, commemorative coins minted by the Treasury, and other appropriate items. The Architect of the Capitol will also install a plaque providing information about the time capsule.
