This bill requires the secretary of state to include voters' ages alongside existing voter information when providing voter lists to political parties, political committees, and candidates for office. Specifically, the bill amends the existing law to add "age" to the list of voter details that can be requested, which currently includes name, domicile address, mailing address, town or city, voter history, and party affiliation. Political parties, committees, and candidates would be able to request these comprehensive voter lists for a fee of $25 plus $0.50 per thousand names over 2,500, and the lists can be provided in various formats such as paper, computer disk, electronic transfer, or other forms. The bill defines "voter history" as whether a person voted and, for primary elections, which party's primary they participated in during the preceding two years. The legislation will take effect 60 days after its passage, providing time for the secretary of state to update processes for including age information in voter files.
