This bill increases dog licensing fees in New Hampshire by raising the annual fee for different categories of dogs. For dogs at least 4 months old but less than 7 months old, and for spayed or neutered dogs 7 months or older, the fee will increase from $4.50 to $4.75. For unneutered male or unspayed female dogs 7 months or older, the fee will increase from $7 to $7.25. In addition, a companion animal population control fee of $1.75 will continue to be collected for each dog license, with these funds being deposited into a dedicated neutering fund. For dog owners who are 65 years of age or older, the license fee will increase from $1.75 to $2, and they will not be required to pay the population control fee for their first dog. The bill will take effect on July 1, 2026, and is expected to generate a modest increase in local revenue, estimated to be less than $10,000 per city or town according to the New Hampshire Municipal Association.
