This bill establishes the "College Admission and Financial Aid Letter Consistency Task Force" to develop standardized admission and financial aid award letters for public colleges and universities in Missouri. The task force will consist of 15 members representing various stakeholders, including parents, students, higher education administrators, career and technical education professionals, school counselors, and an apprenticeship professional. Members will be appointed by different organizations and will serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for expenses. The task force is charged with creating a standard admission letter and a financial aid award letter that clearly outlines important information such as estimated total costs of attendance, types of financial aid offered, expected student or family contributions, graduation rates, and loan default rates. By January 1, 2027, the task force must submit a report to state legislative leaders with their findings, recommended letter templates, and legislative recommendations. Once the report is submitted, the task force will be dissolved. The goal is to provide more transparent and consistent financial information to help students and families better understand the costs and financial aid associated with higher education.
