This resolution celebrates the Washington School for Girls' (WSG) $25 million campus expansion at the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC), recognizing the school's significant contributions to educational equity for girls in southeast Washington, D.C. Founded in 1998 through a collaborative effort by religious and community organizations, WSG is a tuition-free Catholic day school serving girls in grades 3-8 from historically underserved communities, with a mission to close educational gaps through a rigorous, culturally responsive academic program. The new 33,000-square-foot, three-story facility, which will be unveiled in a December 9, 2025 ribbon-cutting ceremony, features 14 spacious classrooms, a multi-purpose cafeteria/auditorium, an expansive library/media lab, a dedicated science lab, a STEM makerspace, an art/music/dance studio, and access to green space and THEARC Farm. The resolution highlights the school's impressive track record, including a 99% high school graduation rate for alumnae and its commitment to leadership, service, and holistic student development, while emphasizing the expansion's broader significance for educational equity and community empowerment in the District of Columbia.
