This bill modifies state law regarding tobacco product regulations by establishing a comprehensive state-level preemption of local tobacco control measures. Specifically, the bill prevents local governments (counties, municipalities, and other political subdivisions) from creating their own regulations about tobacco products, alternative nicotine products, and vapor products, with certain exceptions. The state will now exclusively control rules about these products, including restrictions on ingredients, sales licensing, product bans, and age restrictions. Local jurisdictions will be permitted to continue enforcing age restrictions for selling or purchasing tobacco products to individuals under 21 years old.
