This bill modifies Virginia's vehicle license plate display requirements to permit vehicles (except tractor trucks) to display only a single license plate on the rear of the vehicle, instead of requiring front and rear plates. The bill allows, but does not mandate, vehicle owners to display two valid license plates if they choose. For tractor trucks, the front license plate remains required. The legislation also provides that courts may dismiss summonses for license plate violations if compliance is demonstrated before the court date. Additionally, the bill makes technical amendments to several related sections of the Virginia Code concerning vehicle registration, taxation, and classification, updating cross-references and language to align with the new single-plate provision.
