This bill requires the early learning advisory committee to establish and publish kindergarten readiness indicators (KRIs) by July 1, 2027, which will be a set of research-based, age-specific descriptions of child development skills for children from birth to five years old, covering six key domains: behavioral well-being, approaches to learning, language and literacy, mathematics and problem solving, physical health and motor development, and communication and relationships. The indicators must be neutral, aligned with existing early learning standards, written in plain language, and developed with input from educators, parents, employers, and community organizations. The committee must publish these indicators on a single, easy-to-access website page called the "Kindergarten Readiness Roadmap", which will include printable one-page summaries for different age bands. The Indiana Department of Education, Office of Early Childhood, and Department of Health are required to prominently link to this page on their respective websites, including pages related to maternal and child health, WIC, and home visiting. The bill emphasizes using existing resources and avoiding the creation of new standalone programs, with the goal of providing a clear, accessible guide to support child development and kindergarten preparation.
