This bill creates a new section in Florida Statutes to provide Medicaid coverage for validated at-home blood pressure monitors and blood pressure cuffs for recipients diagnosed with hypertension. The bill defines a "blood pressure cuff" as a measurement accessory used with a monitor to ensure proper sizing, and a "validated at-home blood pressure monitor" as a device listed in the United States Blood Pressure Validated Device Listing that can measure blood pressure outside of a clinical setting. Medicaid will cover these devices when prescribed by a healthcare practitioner for a patient diagnosed with hypertension, including the cost of repairs or replacement parts. To maintain coverage, recipients must participate in follow-up care with their healthcare provider every 6 months for the first 18 months and then annually thereafter to assess the monitor's effectiveness in managing their condition. The Agency for Health Care Administration must seek federal approval if needed and include the rate impact of this coverage in Medicaid managed care program rates effective October 1, 2026, with the entire act taking effect on the same date. This legislation aims to help Medicaid recipients better manage hypertension by providing access to home blood pressure monitoring technology.
