The bill defines key terms such as sexual violence policies, which cover incidents of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking that occur on school premises or at school-sponsored events. Schools must develop policies that provide clear reporting options, outline investigation and disciplinary procedures, specify victim and offender rights, and clarify reporting obligations. The policies must be written in plain, readable language and made available in frequently encountered languages. Schools are required to provide supportive measures that may include counseling, health services, legal assistance, academic accommodations, and safety measures. The bill mandates that these policies and measures be communicated to all students, staff, and volunteers through handbooks, direct communication, physical postings, and website publications. For students under 18, the school must provide notice to parents while potentially also communicating directly with the student in an age-appropriate manner. The provisions are set to take effect on July 1, 2026, giving schools time to develop and implement the required policies and procedures.
