This bill modifies Indiana's worker's compensation law to give employees more control over choosing their attending physician after a work-related injury or occupational disease, effective July 1, 2026. If an employee is unable to select a physician due to the severity of their injury or if immediate treatment is required, the employer will select an attending physician. The bill also requires that when medically necessary or at the employee's request, the attending physician shall consult with the employee's personal physician. Additionally, the bill mandates that the employee must notify the employer and the employer's insurance carrier about the chosen physician and the services provided. The legislation maintains existing provisions about employer responsibilities for travel expenses, wage reimbursement, and emergency medical care, while preserving the worker's compensation board's authority to require necessary medical treatments and services.
