This bill allows a county that runs a community corrections program, which is a system for supervising offenders outside of jail or prison, to create a special savings account called a county community corrections trust fund. This fund can be filled with money from sales made in the program's commissary (a store for inmates or program participants), any money the county appropriates to it, and any grants or gifts specifically for the commissary or community corrections. The money in the fund can only be used for things like running the commissary, providing rehabilitation and education programs, improving facilities related to community corrections, and training staff. The bill also requires the community corrections agency to report annually on how much money went into and out of the fund, and what the balance is, to the county's fiscal body and advisory board, and the fund will be subject to audits by the state. Additionally, this bill makes a technical correction to clarify that "community corrections program" refers to programs organized under IC 11-12-1, ensuring consistency in legal references.
