This information must be given to students whenever an employee discusses contraception, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) with them, dispenses contraception, or provides STD/STI testing. Additionally, the bill mandates that sex education instruction in school districts and charter schools, for students in grades seven through twelve, must include information on the laws regarding sexual conduct with a minor, current adoption practices, adoption resources, and specific legal provisions related to child sexual abuse. It also clarifies that when sex education courses are developed or approved, parents must have a meaningful opportunity to review and provide input, and all relevant meetings and proposed curricula must be publicly accessible and subject to public hearings.
