This bill amends the Michigan Public Health Code to require local health officers to submit a comprehensive annual report to local governing entities regarding immunization levels in schools. Starting in June 2028, local health officers must provide a detailed, de-identified aggregate report that includes the immunization levels of children entering school, the percentage of children exempt from immunizations under two different statutory provisions, and a list of schools with exemption rates exceeding 5%. The report must also include a description of actions the local health department plans to take to reduce high exemption rates. The bill maintains existing requirements for schools to report immunization status of new kindergarten and first-grade students to state and local health departments, and continues to mandate that children who do not complete required immunizations or file proper exemptions can be excluded from school attendance. The bill updates language around reporting requirements and adds a definition for "local governing entity" to clarify the reporting process. These changes aim to improve transparency and tracking of immunization levels across Michigan schools.
