This bill amends Michigan's school code to modify requirements for student immunization and vision screening reporting. The bill requires schools to submit immunization status reports for students in kindergarten and grade 7, updating existing language by removing some date-specific references and expanding reporting requirements. Starting June 1, 2028, schools must provide deidentified, aggregated immunization reports that include the percentages of fully immunized students, partially immunized students, and students with immunization waivers. Beginning with the 2028-2029 school year, public schools must also provide parents with individual student immunization status notices through mail or email, make this information available on their website homepage, and post a paper notice in the main administrative office. The bill also updates terminology, replacing "community health" with "health and human services" and changing "administrator" to "governing body" throughout the text. Parents will continue to have options for immunization documentation, including physician statements, religious or philosophical exemptions, and proof of immunization progress. The Department of Health and Human Services will maintain authority to create rules implementing these requirements.
