This bill amends Florida's professional licensure requirements for surveyors and mappers by expanding the pathways for out-of-state professionals to obtain a license by endorsement. Currently, professionals can be licensed by endorsement if they have a valid license issued before July 1, 1999, or if their original licensing criteria were substantially equivalent to Florida's. The new bill adds a third pathway for professionals with a current, good-standing license from another U.S. state or territory who have at least 5 years of experience in responsible charge of surveying and mapping work. The bill also grants the Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers the authority to request and independently evaluate documentation from other licensing authorities to verify an applicant's professional standing, disciplinary history, and competency. All applicants for licensure by endorsement will still be required to pass the Florida law and rules examination. The changes are designed to make it easier for qualified professionals from other states to become licensed in Florida while maintaining professional standards. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
