This bill, titled the "Office of Fusion Act of 2025," proposes to reestablish an office within the Department of Energy dedicated to advancing fusion energy science and technology. The new Office of Fusion will aim to enhance the nation's energy and economic security, maintain U.S. leadership in fusion technologies, and accelerate the development and deployment of commercial fusion power plants through public-private partnerships, with a goal of starting construction on at least one private-sector fusion power plant by the end of 2028. Additionally, it amends existing law to include "fusion energy resources" under the purview of an Assistant Secretary within the Department of Energy.
