This bill expands the definition of a "disabled driver" for the purpose of obtaining a temporary disabled driver placard in Tennessee. Currently, these placards are available for individuals with temporary nonambulatory or semi-ambulatory conditions due to surgery, fractures, or similar issues, requiring a physician's certification of the condition and its duration. This bill adds to that eligibility a female who has a pregnancy certified by her physician as high-risk, or who is in the second or third trimester of pregnancy. These temporary placards, which must be distinct in design and color from permanent ones and clearly display an expiration date, will be issued for the estimated duration of the condition, up to six months, and can be reissued. The bill also specifies a fee of ten dollars for these temporary placards and sets an effective date of January 1, 2027.
