AI Summary

This bill requires the Board of Education to allow students pursuing both an advanced studies diploma and an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma to use certain IB courses to fulfill requirements for Virginia's advanced studies diploma, including substitutes for history, government, and economics/personal finance courses, provided the Board approves these IB courses. It also mandates that students who complete the IB diploma requirements will automatically meet the course and credit requirements for an advanced studies diploma without further verification, except for any courses or credits required of all high school students. Additionally, the bill directs the Board to grant waivers from the mandatory training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for students who cannot complete it due to their individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 Plan, or for students transferring into Virginia after 10th grade from a school that doesn't require or offer credit for such training.
