This bill establishes a process for individuals convicted of certain felony marijuana-related offenses prior to July 1, 2021, to have their sentences reviewed and potentially modified if they are still incarcerated or under community supervision on July 1, 2026. The courts will automatically schedule hearings to consider sentence modifications, taking into account the legalization of marijuana, and will reduce, vacate, or otherwise modify sentences unless the Commonwealth can prove it's not in the public interest. Individuals eligible for this process will be notified and may be entitled to legal assistance, and the bill includes provisions for timely court decisions and notification to relevant agencies. Importantly, these provisions are temporary and will expire on July 1, 2029.
