This bill requires the Office of Childhood (a state agency responsible for child care oversight) to create and distribute placards with QR codes that, when scanned, will link to a child care facility's complaint investigations and inspection reports. These placards must be distributed to all licensed child care facilities by January 1, 2027, and each facility will be required to display the placard prominently at their entrance, alongside their state license. The QR code will provide easy public access to the facility's inspection and complaint history, with such reports being searchable and visible for three years. After this period, a facility can request the removal of these historical reports. The goal of this legislation appears to be increasing transparency and providing parents and guardians with readily accessible information about the quality and safety record of child care facilities, enabling them to make more informed decisions about where they send their children.
